Sweetkiwi Frozen Yogurt Review | A Review of the Low-Calorie, High-Protein Treat
Sweetkiwi, a certified women-owned and minority-owned company founded by Ehime Eigbe-Akindele, is a popular frozen yogurt brand that offers a range of delicious flavors, including Vanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut, and Cookies & Cream. However, not all grocery stores carry this brand, which is why I was excited to try it when I finally found it at a Ralph's location in Southern California.
The first thing I noticed about Sweetkiwi Whipped Greek Froyo was its texture. Unlike regular ice cream or frozen yogurt, the texture was very firm, almost chewy and dry. It wasn't what I expected from a whipped product, but I still decided to give it a try.
The Cookies & Cream flavor had a high protein taste that I personally didn't find very appealing. It seemed chalky and sweet, but in a weird way, as the sweetness seemed to come from more than just sugar. I was surprised by the density of the product, which didn't feel whipped at all.
Each package of Sweetkiwi is 14 oz. and costs $6.99 at Ralph's. One serving of the Cookies & Cream flavor is 2/3 cup, containing 120 calories, 1g total fat, 23g total carbs, 16g total sugars, and 9g protein. The product contains a superfood blend of acerola juice concentrate, strawberry, green coffee bean extract, maqui, acai, turmeric, blueberry, broccoli, kale, and tart cherry, which may appeal to those who want more than just a low-calorie treat.
While I wasn't a fan of the Cookies & Cream flavor, I appreciate the better-for-you aspect of Sweetkiwi. It's high in protein and contains real, locally sourced ingredients, making it a healthier alternative to regular ice cream. However, due to the firm texture and high protein taste, I'm giving Sweetkiwi Whipped Greek Froyo a 3 out of 5 stars rating.
